We begin this life,
A ball of tears.
This only increases,
Throughout the years.
One blow falls,
And then another.
As if every joy,
This life does smother.
Each hit is like a mini death;
A peek into the future.
As more hits come and tears do flow,
We need a lasting suture.
Something to hold us together,
And lead us through to dawn.
Someone who can give us shelter;
A Rock to rest upon.
Praise be to God,
That One has come,
To rescue from despair.
His name is Jesus,
He’s the Light,
Who leads us;
But to where?
He leads us to,
Our heavenly home;
Where we will sing,
Around His throne.
So too will He,
Remake the earth.
Life in abundance;
Without dearth.
But to achieve this lofty goal,
And bring us there with Him;
First He came to face His wrath,
And pay for all our sin.
So too did He share in our tears;
He wept and cried aloud.
The sorrow deep did rend His heart;
He faced what God allowed.
He faced the full weight,
Of just wrath.
And with His cross,
He carved a path.
For us to walk through,
So we ask,
“My Lord how can it be?
That One so holy and divine,
Should come to rescue me?”
Jesus, You came and tasted grief;
Of that cup You did drink deeply.
And even as we spilled Your blood,
You looked upon us sweetly.
“Father forgive them!” was Your cry,
As we called out for Your blood.
“How can You love us?” I now reply;
We deserve another flood.
This is love,
Pure and true.
To love the ones,
Who hated You.
To restore us to You in wholeness,
You suffered in the coldness.
The coldness of the Father’s wrath;
Severed and scattered like the chaff.
Oh what horror.
Oh what pain.
You endured,
To reclaim,
All of us as Your own.
To restore Your family,
And take them home.
Now although,
Tears we shed;
We have no more,
To fear or dread.
Because You our King,
Did snuff death’s sting.
Hope now abounds,
In suffering.
So as we weep and lament,
We’ve firm foundation,
Christ’s cement.
You’ve set our feet,
On solid ground.
Called us to glory,
And given crowns.
Praise the Lord of light and love.
King Jesus is risen;
Enthroned above.
