Jesus Is Lovely

There is much in this world,

Of which I am sad.

But I will rejoice,

For He has made me glad.

The Lord Jesus is lovely;

Awesome in power.

He is strong like a lion,

And delicate like a flower.

He is gentle and lowly,

The weak He won’t crush.

He will speak to them softly;

Melodiously like the thrush.

He is holy and mighty,

Majestic and light.

None can withstand Him,

He wins every fight.

He desires to love us,

And make our hearts glad.

To all He is gracious,

From New York to Riyadh.

Though here we have sorrow,

Still we can rejoice.

Of reasons to praise Him,

We’re spoiled for choice.

Think of His goodness,

His mercy and grace.

Though High King He suffered,

For us in our place.

Perhaps you have heard,

Some balk at His wrath.

But they don’t tell you;

His blood forged a path.

The just price for our sin,

You and I could not pay.

But the Lamb of God, Jesus,

Himself made the way.

On the cross He was crushed,

Marred beyond recognition.

His blood and tears flowed;

That we might not be so stricken.

His justice is just;

Perfectly so and right.

In His infinite love,

He rescued us from our plight.

He did so not only,

To save us from sin.

But also to make us,

His pure, redeemed kin.

Now when we trust,

In Jesus alone.

We are raised from the mire,

To sit with Him on His throne.

If in Him we have faith,

Our work is now done.

The gates of heaven are opened,

If you believe in God’s Son.

Let us rejoice,

In Christ Jesus alone.

Let us despise the shame,

Found in our earthly home.

Our home’s now in heaven.

We are sojourners here.

Proclaim the good news of Jesus.

Rejoice in Him without fear.
