The Lord came to my rescue,
When I was overwhelmed.
I had nearly abandoned,
My place at the helm.
He climbed in my craft;
With His hand divine,
He grabbed and He held me,
And said, “Son you’re Mine.”
Now please Lord,
Tie me to the mast.
Put steel in my spine;
Help me to hold fast.
I long for the day,
When You silence this storm.
In the middle please mold me,
Into Your good form.
He looked at me,
With love in His eyes,
He said, “Son I’m with you,
You will claim the prize.
I will never forsake you,
I suffer with you.
You are bound to me
No matter what you go through.”
His words and His touch,
Are ever so sweet.
My dear Lord Jesus,
You really must meet.
Come taste and see,
That He is good.
The more the waves roll,
The better I’ve understood.
If knowing You better,
Means pain for right now,
Lord Jesus I humbly,
And gratefully bow.
Thy will be done Lord;
My life is Yours.
For when suffering here,
In Your Spirit pours.
I want to be with You,
And to You be close.
For often in struggling,
We feel You the most.
You’re a Man of Sorrows,
Yet so full of joy.
You’ve had Your eye upon me,
Since I was a boy.
When darkness surrounds,
And I’m drowning in pain,
You bring rescue and succor;
Again and again.
Please teach me my Master.
Give me quietness and trust.
To be faithful and joyful,
Like You is a must.
Help me to hold fast,
To You at all times.
Thank you for paying,
The debt for my crimes.
In You Lord Jesus,
I lack for nothing.
I love you sweet Savior;
You’re my everything.
