His Name Is Jesus

He descended and bled,
Down here in the mud.
He rolled back the stone,
After three days with a thud.

He emerged from the tomb;
Now risen He reigns.
Jealousy He guards,
All His sheep He claims.

His name is Jesus;
Yahweh in the flesh.
Humbly He descended,
To like wheat be threshed.

The Lion of Judah;
The Lamb that was slain,
Thought not the cross, loss,
But rather, His gain.

Why did the Creator,
Of all time and space,
Come down from heaven,
To die in disgrace?

He came for you and I,
His fallen, lost sheep.
He decided to die,
And dive in darkness deep.

Heaven’s true Light,
The King of all glory,
Wept and bled in the night,
To redeem our story.

He fought with the Beast;
Sin, Death and all evil.
To the power of this world,
He brought righteous upheaval.

He bared His strong arms,
Open wide on that hill.
Humbly He submitted,
As Death lunged for the kill.

Once Death drew near,
And delivered the blow,
It thought it had won,
But then began the real show.

He who gave up His life,
Raised it back up again.
He trampled down Death,
And all above said, ‘Amen!’

What we should know,
Is that you and me,
Are really the ones,
Who should’ve hung on that tree.

But King Jesus is loving,
Gracious and kind.
Though we are dust,
We are on His mind.

He loves you and I,
With a passion so great.
He devoured and swallowed,
All darkness and hate.

He now offers freely,
Eternal life and much joy,
To all who will trust Him,
And forsake death’s employ.

His name is Jesus;
The true King of earth.
Take your place in His kingdom;
Receive life and rebirth.
