This Life Is A Gift

Sometimes it feels pointless,
To struggle and strain.
Why should I stand up,
To be knocked down again?

The weight of exhaustion,
And pain day after day,
Tempts one to long for,
A swift end to decay.

Lord please descend,
And then take me home.
Life on earth gives,
Only reasons to groan.

My stamina is gone;
My endurance is spent.
I’m wrung out like a sponge;
Laid low, tattered and bent.

I know not why,
This struggle continues.
But I do know there is,
No evil intent in You.

You are all-knowing,
All-powerful and good.
Your wisdom is beyond,
What I’ve not understood.

All life is a gift;
Even one spent in pain.
Your tender mercy from heaven,
Pours on us like rain.

You know my end,
And everything in between.
You are worthy of my trust,
And highest esteem.

You did not withhold,
Even Your only Son.
You will not now forsake me,
As this race I run.

I trust You Lord Jesus,
Through this life’s trials.
I humbly submit to,
Your loving denials.

In You I lack,
For nothing at all.
I long only to see You,
And at Your feet fall.

Give strength to my frame Lord;
I’m feeble and broken.
Help me to hold fast,
To each word You have spoken.

Uphold and sustain me,
My good, gracious King.
Cover me with,
Your strong loving wing.

Thank You for life Lord;
And for buying me back,
From hopeless enslavement,
To Death’s cruel attack.

You defeated the Beast,
And conquered the grave.
You’re our suffering King,
Who is mighty to save.

Help me to be faithful,
And abide in Your love.
King Jesus my heart,
Resides in Your courts above.

Thank you for this gift,
Of a life lived for You.
Grant me to give honor,
Forever only to You.
