We enter this life,
All bearing a weight,
To which poor and wealthy,
Alike can relate.
It sits on our shoulders;
Drives us to the ground.
Of wearisome toil,
This life does abound.
Exhausted and weary,
We look around,
Searching for where,
True peace can be found.
We look for rest;
To satisfy our souls.
This sharp hunger; a deep craving,
Our whole life controls.
The peace that we seek,
Is not found in wealth.
It’s not found in achievements,
Or in good health.
Like a branch, we’ve been severed,
From the True Vine.
Our hearts cannot rest,
Without the Divine.
Everything that exists,
Was made by King Jesus.
He’s the Lord of creation,
And true life He brings us.
Nothing in us,
Can make us feel full.
We must be resurrected,
To be made whole.
To be made alive,
Our debt must be paid.
To accomplish this feat,
Jesus down His life laid.
He shouldered our burden,
And swallowed our grief.
He drank deep of our sorrow,
To give us relief.
All who trust Him,
Will be forgiven.
In His love He restores,
What has been riven.
Jesus is our peace,
And shelter in the storm.
His peace given us,
No trouble can deform.
He took the burden,
That we cannot bear.
Now He carries us,
With tender love and good care.
Come find rest in Him;
Quench the thirst of your soul.
Eat the Bread of Life;
You’ll forever be full.
Come and know peace;
Eternal life and true joy.
Be refreshed by His mercy,
And forsake death’s employ.
The Lord of creation,
Loves and wants you.
He gave His own life;
This love is true.
Lay down your burden,
At Jesus’s feet.
Be embraced by your Father;
Know true peace complete.
