Behold your doom, defeated death,
The Man upon the cross that wept,
Has given up His final breath,
And you, into the pit, has swept.
Though He lived life perfectly,
For us He was nailed to a tree.
Behold, He’s risen in victory;
God’s Son who died for you and me.
He created us, but we rebelled.
We forsook His love and fell,
Into sorrow and darkness unto death;
We chose our sin over Life’s own Breath.
Because we chose,
To reject our God.
With chains of death,
Our feet are shod.
But Jesus, He is rich in mercy.
To redeem us, He became quite earthy.
The sinless, spotless Son of God,
Became a man and on earth trod.
Holy and full of grace He came,
The life He lived no one can claim.
He drank deep of our sorrow and pain,
To restore us to life with Him again.
The price He paid upon the cross,
He never counted as His loss.
With His blood He built a bridge across,
The chasm of our sinful dross.
The proof He paid our debt in full,
And that our guilt’s now void and null,
Is that after He died upon the pole,
His tomb is empty despite Death’s pull.
Christ has risen from the dead;
Behold Him all who on earth tread.
Once you eat this Heavenly Bread,
Forever death, you need not dread.
Jesus has trampled down the grave,
He’s rich in mercy and mighty to save.
With His own life which He gave,
He’s paid the ransom for Death’s slaves.
Behold the Man once on the tree,
Is now enthroned in majesty.
His salvation offered to us is free,
And gives us life eternally.
