Another day has dawned upon me;
Ominous and full of gloom.
The sky is dark and rumbles faintly,
Whispering to me of doom.
I crawl around and struggle,
Through sickness and much pain.
I no longer bother asking,
If I’ll know joy again.
As I wrestle and I writhe,
I gnaw upon my tongue.
There’s no refuge or shelter,
In the tombs I live among.
A horror to behold;
Men flee from my face.
The fate that I’ve been dealt,
Is a pitiable disgrace.
Death here is the master;
It binds tight with ball and chain.
It mocks and laughs at the disaster,
Shared by all under its reign.
Life among the tombs is hopeless;
One can hardly snatch a breath.
The air is thick and heavy,
With the stifling stench of Death.
But lo, I see a shining light,
Piercing through the gloom.
A figure strong and bright,
With melodious voice begins to boom:
“Hear Me all you fallen,
Trapped in despair among the tombs.
Your master, Death, has been defeated,
For it I have consumed.
All who are weary and heavy laden,
With pain, sickness and despair,
I have broken every chain,
With My tender loving care.
Come out of there my children;
Come out from the tombs!
For though I died, I’ve risen,
And for you new life now blooms.”
I am shocked and stunned to see Him;
This is the risen Christ.
He came to earth and suffered,
To pay our ransom price.
Next I stood and ran to meet Him,
Along with all who heard His call.
With tears of joy and shouts rejoicing,
In worship at His feet we fall.
Our loving Savior Jesus,
Came to us among the tombs.
He is gloriously resplendent;
In love all darkness He consumes.
Come to Him my fellows;
Be free of sin and grief.
Hearken to His voice which bellows,
Of eternal life and sweet relief.
