The Clarion Call

As we walk through this world,
Sin speaks to us all.
Sweet lies and batting eyes,
Are its clarion call.

It tells us to come,
And be relieved of our burden.
For to trust and love God,
Will bring misery for certain

But please allow me,
To speak what is true.
For in truth this is what,
Sin is saying to you:

“Come here and lay,
Where the dead shed their tears.
Be forever consumed,
By dread, horrors and fears.

Come lie where the dead,
Fall and don’t rise.
Be devoured and crushed,
In eternal demise.”

For this is the end,
Of all born of men.
We’re born deceived and entrapped,
In Sin’s gilded play pen.

We enter life with a thirst,
Nothing on earth can quench.
No satisfaction is found,
As we roam round Death’s trench.

For the hunger we share,
Is to know the Divine.
We were made to love,
Our Creator, the True Vine.

But it is we who left Him,
The source of all life.
We forsook the Lord God,
And chose death and strife.

He made us for life,
And unending joy.
But through slavery to sin,
We’re trapped in Death’s employ.

Yet still there is hope,
For all those made of dust.
The Lord Jesus will rescue,
All who in Him trust.

He speaks to us truly,
And gives grace to all.
He offers new life,
And sends forth this call:

“Come now to Me,
All you weary and heavy laden;
Be relieved and find rest,
Full of joy unabatin’.

Come to Me you who suffer,
And are searching for purpose.
Living water will I give,
Free to all without purchase.”

This call comes from the One,
For whom our hearts pine.
The source of all life;
King Jesus the Divine.

He desires that all,
Would come to know Him.
And with His love and joy,
Be filled to the brim.

Heed well His call,
And consider your choice.
As for me and my house,
We’ll praise Jesus with one voice.
