As we dwell upon,
This rock called Earth,
Of joy there is a dreadful dearth.
But praise God’s Son,
Who made a way,
To forever free us from decay.
Though we face,
A foe most fierce,
Jesus through the veil did pierce.
Full of truth and grace,
Is He.
He gave His life to set us free.
He condescended,
From heaven above,
To show to us true grace and love.
Sin’s war He ended,
At the cross.
His blood shed, removes our dross.
When it seems,
All hope is lost,
Look to Him who paid the cost.
For He redeems,
All who Him trust.
They shall not know rot nor rust.
For the Good Shepherd,
Is His name.
He rescues all His sheep from flame.
Our blemished record,
He corrected.
By faith in Him we are perfected.
Through caverns deep,
And long nights dark,
To our loving Savior’s voice we hark.
And though we weep,
As shadows lengthen,
He to us in our need does hasten.
Though sorrow may,
Come in the night,
And plague us with tearful fright,
With break of day,
The Son will dawn.
And all darkness will be gone.
He gives mercy new,
With each morning.
And through our weakness He’s transforming,
Me and you,
Who follow Him,
Into extensions of His limb.
Through us He does deeds,
Great and small,
That more might harken to His call.
He meets our needs,
And sees our weakness.
He brings much good out of life’s bleakness.
For once He’s called us,
To Himself,
We serve and help clean off Death’s shelf.
Of Jesus we discuss,
With others,
How He’s freed them from Death which smothers.
Though this world,
Is dark like pitch.
We have not been left in a ditch.
Our sin’s been hurled,
On Jesus Christ.
Whose death, payment for our sin sufficed.
