Christ Jesus My King

Bind me to You Lord;
Through my ear drive an awl.
For only in You,
Can we rise after the fall.

You are my Lord and no other,
Christ Jesus my King.
You are to me a true brother;
I’m saved by Your suffering.

At one time I was lost,
Shivering alone in the dark,
But then you dispelled death’s frost,
And lit inside me a spark.

You ignited an ember,
That burst forth into life.
Of death I’ve been disencumbered,
And been granted respite from strife.

Like a blind man I once groped,
Stumbling ‘round in the dark night;
Then You provided more than I’d hoped,
And drove out the darkness with light.

I was once enslaved to sin,
With no hope trapped in a pit.
To Jesus’ kingdom come in,
I was entirely unfit.

But the Christ, He looked down,
With compassion on all mankind;
He refused to leave us to drown,
And left Heaven’s splendor behind.

Our sin accrued a great debt,
Against our just, holy God.
Yet this deficit, Jesus met,
When with our sin He was shod.

Though He knew sin not,
For us, sin He became.
To us righteousness He does allot,
‘Cause He shouldered our guilt and shame.

The soil of Earth’s been drenched,
With the blood of the Divine.
Now all who thirst may be quenched,
With living water from the True Vine.

You alone Christ are King;
You have defeated the grave.
You rose again, so we sing,
“Jesus is mighty to save.”

I’ll follow You and no other;
In Christ alone I’m satisfied.
Through faith in You, our true Brother,
The power of death is defied.

Let all who trust You now say,
“Lord Jesus, bind us to You.
In You alone is the way,
To eternal life, joyful and true.”
