Christ was born to die,
But aren’t we all?
We believed the serpent’s lie,
And must face death’s maul.
But something is different,
Between us and Him.
Jesus is holy and innocent,
Yet was pierced through each limb.
As we face death,
We get what we deserve.
But in giving up His breath,
Jesus, our punishment, did serve.
Jesus is our God,
Who faced death in our place.
He chose to be born like us and shod,
With our sinful disgrace.
As both God and man,
He lived a perfect life.
Willingly to die was His plan,
To rescue us from all strife.
We’re all born to die,
And we deserve it.
But Jesus came from on high,
To all our sin, remit.
Though interred in the ground,
There He did not remain.
The Lord of Life, He is crowned,
And victorious in His campaign.
Death could not hold Him down,
For death, He did not deserve.
So that we would not in sin drown,
He gave His life, to our’s, preserve.
Now Christ Jesus our King,
Is risen and throned in glory.
Let us rise up and sing,
Praise to Him who rewrote our story.
All glory and honor,
Belong to His name.
He wiped away our dishonor,
And rescued us from the flame.
Worthy is the Lamb,
Who was born to be slain.
By the cross, death, He did damn,
And to prove it He rose up again.
What now, you and I,
Should ponder and discuss,
Is how on the day that we die,
Can we too be raised thus?
Resurrection is by faith,
Freely granted to all.
All who trust the words Jesus saith,
Will rise and not fall.
For Jesus is indeed,
The resurrection and the life.
All who trust Him are guaranteed,
To live forever free from all strife.
