Kept in Heaven, there’s a book;
A record of our words and deeds.
In this, even a brief look,
Reveals none on earth succeeds.
None succeed to attain glory;
All fall short of our good God.
Our lives record a sorry story;
For our sin we must face death’s rod.
There is a God in heaven,
Who reigns with justice over all.
As the good Judge who sees our leaven,
Just recompense for, He does call.
But there exists another book;
The risen Lamb’s book of life.
All those named in there are took,
Out of the grip of death and strife.
For the same Judge who looks on us,
And cannot abide our sin,
Showed His sacrificial love thus:
He died in our place to bring us in.
Though for our sin we’re dead and buried,
Back to life we can be raised.
For sin’s death blow Jesus parried,
And the world’s dark kingdom He has razed.
Christ has trampled in the dust,
The foe that drove us to the ground.
Now simply by faith and trust,
All His lost sheep can be found.
Our names may now be recorded,
In the Lamb’s book of redeemed souls.
Though we fell short we‘ll be rewarded,
With a place in Heaven’s kingdom scrolls.
None who trust will be forgotten;
By grace through faith all can be saved.
The Son of God will cleanse what’s rotten;
With His cross, a path to God He’s paved.
Of us He keeps a careful record;
He knows of every sob and tear.
By His own death for us He’s secured,
Life without anxiety or fear.
Come now to the Rock of Ages,
The risen, reigning Jesus Christ.
Have your name written on life’s pages;
To Him, the True Vine, now be spliced.
