The One who is preeminent,
Who created one and all,
His return is imminent;
Look up and harken to His call.
Like a thief who comes at night,
And is not heard or seen,
Christ the Lord who’s clothed with light,
Will appear unexpected on the scene.
Jesus came at first to save,
Us from the penalty due our sin.
Laying down His life He gave,
His blood to cleanse us out and in.
But when He does return,
He’ll bring judgement on this world.
He’ll banish sin and death to burn;
Into the pit they shall be hurled.
We must not be caught sleeping,
The sinful, slothful sleep of death.
His word we must be found keeping,
For from Him we receive our breath.
Yet as His word we keep,
We trade our toil in for rest.
For all of Jesus’ redeemed sheep,
By faith in Him have passed the test.
Christ the Lord has finished,
For us a full redemptive work.
Life in Him will never be diminished;
His gift of grace we must not shirk.
The time we live in now,
Is a gracious gift of God.
To repent of sin and to Him bow,
We must do as on earth we trod.
For once we pass away,
All will stand before His throne.
For our sin we will have to pay,
Unless on Christ our sin’s been thrown.
He is the first born of the dead;
He died for us and then He rose.
With faith in Him we need not dread;
For those who trust Him, new life grows.
Come now to Christ the King;
In all He is the first and last.
When He returns your heart will sing,
As you rejoice to know fear is past.
