Christ Jesus is a prophet, true,
And also the best of teachers.
But as we look at what He did say and do,
It’s plain He’s more than just a preacher.
He claimed to be the great “I Am,”
Healed the sick and raised the dead.
Demons, faced with Him, did scram;
He filled them with fear and dread.
Jesus the Christ is not created;
He’s always been and will always be.
His power will never be abated;
He conquered death and sets us free.
Jesus made all of time and space;
He holds the world within His hands.
Yet in His boundless love and grace,
He paid the price our sin demands.
The wages for our sin is death;
To forever burn within the flame.
Yet Christ the Lord gave up His breath,
To bear the cost of our sin and shame.
The weight of our own sin alone,
You and I could never bear.
Yet God bearing the world’s did groan,
In selfless love showing great care.
Seldom is it found that one,
Would die for a good friend.
Yet in selfless love, this, God has done,
For His enemies to mend.
For though we were made to live with God,
Against Him we made war.
Yet in our place He faced the rod,
That He might save us and restore.
Restore the peace that has been lost,
Twixt God and fallen man.
To raise us to life and pay sin’s cost,
In our desperate need, to us He ran.
To call the one who knows all things,
A prophet, is correct.
But more than that, He’s King of kings,
And worthy of all respect.
Jesus Christ is Lord all;
The one true and living God.
To those who are weary He does call,
To come find rest and with Him trod.
