Our Struggle

Our struggle is not with rifle or sword,
Our enemy is not of this world.
Unseen evil seeks to kill Christ’s adored,
As its hatred for Him on us is hurled.

And so we cry out, we wail and groan,
Sending prayers to our God who we love:
‘Lord, hasten the day when Your glory is shown;
Rend the skies and descend from above.’

Let God arise and scatter His foes;
May all who hate Him turn and flee.
When will Jesus return? None of us knows,
But certainly His return soon will be.

So let the Redeemed bear up and take heart;
Our Lord neither slumbers nor sleeps.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who’ll never depart;
He lays His life down and fights for His sheep.

Be still and watch Yah’s enemies break,
Like waves upon the rock.
Almighty God, no one can shake;
Woe to those who despise Him and mock.

For Christ has risen up from the dead,
And trampled the grave with its own snare.
In glory, out the tomb He did tread,
Having ravaged and ransacked death’s lair.

The Kingdom of Heaven has conquered,
By the death of the King on a tree.
Though into sin we have wandered,
By faith in Him we are set free.

Though freed from its penalty and power,
The presence of sin in this world does persist.
But the enemies of Christ flee and cower,
When in His holy strength we resist.

Hold fast now in faith to Christ Jesus;
Soon we’ll leave this world and enter rest.
And when sin reaches out to seize us,
The Holy Spirit will help us pass the test.

Struggle on in the power God’s given,
For over sin and death He has won.
Fully from us, one day sin’ll be riven,
For we share in the victory of God’s Son.
