There’s brighter days ahead,
To which we’re being led.
Though He was crucified and buried,
Jesus rose up from the dead.
That blow that we most fear,
Is ever drawing near,
But Jesus Christ has parried,
The thrust of death’s cruel spear.
Blood poured from His side,
As His love flowed deep and wide.
Though our sin had forged a chasm,
His cross bridged the great divide.
For sin we couldn’t pay the cost,
And it seemed all hope was lost,
But Christ endured much torturous spasm,
As our sin on Him was tossed.
We were chained up in the dark,
And on life could not embark,
But Jesus pulled us in His hansom,
And placed on us His mark.
Now Christ is taking us to glory,
‘Cause His blood rewrote our story.
For He fully paid our ransom,
And loaded us up in His lorry.
From many folds He calls one flock,
Who now take shelter in the Rock.
And He protects us from much danger,
As with Him through this world we walk.
Facing trouble, toil and trial,
Attacked by enemy who does beguile,
We follow the One born in a manger,
To our Heavenly domicile.
For Jesus’ sheep the future’s bright,
Although we belonged to the night,
The Lord Christ came to our rescue;
With Him to Heaven we’ll now take flight.
Christ’s sheep are children of the day,
For with His cross He made a way,
To us, His righteousness imbue,
‘Cause for our sin He chose to pay.
Within and before us He’s placed joy,
No power of darkness can destroy.
He’s leading us through this fallen earth,
To forever flourish in His employ.
For Jesus Christ, He is the Door;
On all who trust Him, His grace does pour.
In His kingdom there’s no lack of mirth,
Just joy and pleasure for evermore.
