All of the reasons for suffering escape me,
There is much that I cannot see.
Faced with sorrows of life, at times I stare blankly,
Feeling as if I’ll never be free.
Free of the suffering that dominates existence;
For Entropy dismantles with ruthless persistence.
So let us confront this unpleasantness frankly,
And determine if we should persist in subsistence.
First we should ask, “Does life have meaning?”,
“Or is it naught but brief, useless preening?”.
To determine this, we must go to the Source;
The Giver of life, on whose hand we’re leaning.
The God who made us is full of love;
His name is Jesus and He came from above,
To pay for our sin and redirect our course,
So that us into the grave sin can’t shove.
He is not indifferent to our suffering and pain,
For He became flesh upon this mortal plane.
Our God willingly chose to suffer and groan,
In order to free us from death’s domain.
Consider the reason why God became man.
Why determine to suffer from before time began?
The reason is by the cross He’s overthrown,
The Kingdom of Darkness, as was His plan.
For to sin and death, you and I are a slave;
We are born separated from God who we crave.
And so God allows suffering for good reason;
It helps us see our need for His Son that He gave.
Because sin separates us from God, we shall die.
For unto us He alone does supply,
Life itself, and so we must see our treason,
Learn we need to repent, and turn to the Most High.
All the reasons for pain are many and varied,
There’s much we don’t know, but we trust Him who carried,
All of our sorrow, our sin and our shame,
That by faith in Him to Heaven we’re ferried.
The Lord Jesus Christ is loving and good,
This is why for us He was nailed to wood.
He rose up again and saves His sheep from flame,
All temptation to doubt Him must be withstood.
