God, when will You return?
Lord, when will You descend,
To forever banish evil to burn,
And our every sorrow mend?
My Lord God and Christ,
Please, on us, have mercy.
For Your blood alone has sufficed,
To cleanse and quench those who are thirsty.
You have conquered the night,
And defeated the grave.
Jesus, You are the true light,
Who is mighty to save.
Graciously You have delayed,
The day of Your second coming.
Your final judgment has been stayed,
As myriad souls after, You’ve been running.
God, for this we give thanks;
Lord, for Your mercy we rejoice.
You died for us nailed to planks,
That up with You, us, You might hoist.
Please reap a great harvest,
Of redeemed souls before you come down.
Even those who from You are farthest,
By faith in Christ receive a crown.
But Lord also please hasten,
The day when You will rend,
And shatter the skies like a basin,
And bring this evil world to an end.
Jesus, please do not delay,
The day when You remake the Earth,
Forever bring an end to decay,
And fill the universe with unending mirth.
For You alone are the King,
Of all life and light.
Please fully Your kingdom bring,
And forever banish the night,
We who trust You do yearn,
Along with all creation that groans,
For the day of Your triumphant return,
And the end of all this world’s thrones.
For all of the nations,
Belong only to You.
You will end their sinful machinations,
And receive what You’re due.
In place of sinfulness and hate,
You will establish righteousness and love.
Yahweh, God of Hosts, You are great;
With might please descend from above.
God, please help us to be patient;
Lord, help us on You to wait.
Only You the almighty and ancient,
Can make this crooked world straight.
