God our Father, where are you?
Oh Lord, where have you gone?
I believe Your word is true,
But it feels like You’ve withdrawn.
I’ve come to learn of pain and sorrow,
In this world there’s no end.
I fear when I awake tomorrow,
The dark, will my life expend.
Here I sit with my mouth open,
But my stomach remains vacant.
By this world I have been broken,
And Your love, to me, feels latent.
But after each tearful nightfall,
The Sun does not fail to rise.
By Your Spirit I’m led to recall,
From me, You have not removed Your eyes.
At some point all have asked the question,
“Oh God, where are You now?”,
But we mustn’t fall prey to the suggestion,
“God cannot be good and this allow.”
To this question I return,
And ask, “Where is He not?”.
By creation alone we can discern,
That we are not, by God, forgot.
What’s more, Manna has come from Heaven;
The fullness of God in Jesus Christ.
The Living Bread consumed our leaven;
To pay for our sin, His blood sufficed.
He’s also said, “I’m in you by My Spirit,
I see everything you do.
And I’ve placed a gracious limit,
On the hardships you go through.
I have also sent My Son,
To redeem you in the flesh.
Against death and grave He’s won,
And all who trust Him will rise afresh.
Although in this world you’ll suffer,
I’ll bring it to a sudden end.
If you trust, My Son will be a buffer;
Hold fast, one day you shall ascend.”
The Manna, again, will come;
Christ the King is on His way.
The Living Bread did not succumb,
To neither sin nor death nor grave.
Jesus has given us new life,
And He will carry us through each day.
He will deliver us from all strife,
And so we say, “Hallelu-Yahweh.”
