None among mankind, are born the complete article;
We are naturally rebellious down to every particle.
Discipline is a treasure, that must be obtained;
From our gracious Heavenly Father, these riches are gained.
For He does not desire, that any should perish;
His heart is full of love, and each of us He does cherish.
The rod is used in love to both instruct and correct;
The wise person will not, this Father’s favor, reject.
Those who despise the rod, will taste the sword;
What else can come to those who’ve discipline abhorred?
They who heed not wood, will meet with steel,
For them, no judge will hear their appeal.
So what then does the Lord require of us?
He requires not deeds, but simply our love and trust.
But the one who loves God, will obey His commands,
And though we stumble and sin, daily our obedience expands.
God the Father gives discipline to help us finish the race,
And though our suffering is bad, sufficient is His grace.
We must harken to the Lord’s loving instruction,
For all who follow Him, He saves from destruction.
And far more than this, Jesus gives life abundant,
Though He died, in three days, He rose up triumphant.
He who chose to die willingly for all our sin,
Will be faithful to complete the work He did begin.
Christ Jesus will carry us, through every storm,
And He will use every struggle to, our hearts, transform.
The day will soon come, when all our sorrows will cease,
And there will be no end to joy and pleasure’s increase.
Thank you Lord Jesus, my God and my King,
For carrying me through all this suffering.
No one who calls to You will be turned away,
You’re willing and eager to hear when we pray.
Thank You for Your discipline by which I’ve understood,
That You use all things to work for my good.
