Christos anesti ek nekron,
Jesus rose from the dead He’s God’s own Son.
Our God who went into the grave,
Walked out the tomb and is mighty to save.
He conquered death on the third day,
And so we stand with Him and say:
“Christos anesti ek nekron,” means Christ is risen from the dead;
For a spear was thrust through God’s own Son, and thorns adorned His head.
He was beaten brutally and torn; His limbs run through with nails;
But lest you should become forlorn, know that over death He prevails.
For He rose up on the third day; He strode out of the tomb.
To God He is the only Way; He devoured sin and gloom.
Come now to the King of kings and be delivered from your strife;
He’s the One of Whom all Heaven sings, and He gives eternal life.
No matter what you’ve done or seen, He will deliver you.
Of all your sin He’ll wash you clean, and give you life anew.
No one born down here gets out alive, and all will drink of pain,
No matter how we work or strive, we will not rise again.
For we have all eaten the fruit; been born of sin’s necrotic seed,
But of us God made a hot pursuit, and chose for us to bleed.
You see the wages of our sin is death, and we all deserve to die,
But the perfect One gave up His breath; look in the mirror, you are why.
He could have come down in full strength, but He chose to become weak,
To have the life He lived cut short in length, for He is gentle and meek.
He sends out a call to all who thirst, for ultimate satisfaction;
For the weary now the dam has burst, and this thought’s not mere abstraction.
Christ whose blood flowed at the cross, offers rest and joy;
He washes away our sinful dross, and frees us from death’s employ.
All ye hopeless, lonely and downcast; all who’re bent down low in pain,
Come to the cross, look up and stand aghast; see Him who died and rose again.
Our God who suffered and was crucified, did all of this for you;
Drink of His blood and you’ll be satisfied, forever raised up and made new.
From and with God we can have now peace, because blood flowed from His side;
He paid our debt and washed our fleece; His cross bridged the great divide.
Come unto the King above all kings, bow down and kiss the Son;
To all that trust Him life He brings, eternally for everyone.
Christos anesti ek nekron,
Jesus rose from the dead He’s God’s own Son.
Our God who went into the grave,
Walked out the tomb and is mighty to save.
No greater love could He display,
Than to with His blood wash our sins away.
