Lambs Among Wolves

I’ve perceived there are slick people, leading meetings under steeples,
Who do not tend the flock of God, deep down their hearts are evil.

My fellow sheep beware, for we’re lambs among wolves.
There’s some who preach the kingdom, but hide claws under hooves.

These greedy folks collect the silver; they rob and pilfer;
But for sheep they can be hard to spot; they look familiar.

They say, “Put yourself next to God, and favor will pour down your back.
You sick who need His gracious nod, add your money to my stack.”

They’re looking for a fish to fry, and they can’t wash you clean;
They’re going to leave you high and dry; on them you cannot lean.

They’ll trade you for 30 pieces, and smile at what’s not true;
That health and wealth gospels’ a trap, and in the end it might kill you.

Jesus said here we’ll have trouble, but they tell you if you’re lame,
It’s because you’re lacking faith, and their empty coffers’ to blame.

Get up and grab your wallet; pray to God and walk right out.
They’re hoping you’ll fall for it; don’t listen when they jump and shout.

Christ’s kingdom ain’t of this world, and down here we will face pain.
But His grace will see us through, for to die in Him is gain.

Step boldly out and face the fire, and know you’re not alone.
While on this earth we will perspire, but keep on walking towards our home.

Those in God’s will shall face trials, famine, sickness, sword and storms,
But through all the devil’s wiles, God in our hearts does perform,

A transformative act of grace;
He shapes us into His image.
Christ uses hardships to replace,
The old and helps us reflect His visage.

Material blessing is a grace, but true blessing has more in store.
It is to know the love of Jesus, and grow in His image more and more.

God’s grace is undeserved favor, and this favor we don’t lack;
This next thought I pray you’ll savor: for us Christ faced death’s attack.
