Awake Oh Sleepers

Awake oh Sleepers, awake, Christ the King is on His way.
He could come in dead of night, or with the break of day.

Arise my fellows, arise, for the King of all the Earth,
Soon will come to claim His prize, bringing the jewel of priceless worth.

I speak of the Kingdom of Heaven, that will descend with trumpet blast;
All who trust Jesus will be welcome, regardless of race or caste.

Sin has lulled us into slumber, and will drag us down to Hell;
Where none will be remembered, and forever languish in dark dell.

But on all the Light has shown, and descended to dwell with us;
Over sin and death He’s conquered; His name is King Jesus.

He lifts us up and rends our shackles, removes blindness from our eyes;
All who look on Him and believe, He will welcome and not despise.

To swallow all our sin; to wrest us from death’s grasp;
He was nailed to a bloody cross, and made to weep and gasp.

We crucified the King of glory, yet as He was raised up high above,
He pleaded, “Father forgive, and do not, in the pit, them shove!”

With His wounds Christ bore our sin, and shouldered all our shame;
In three days from the tomb He rose, proving He devoured all our blame.

To gain us He claimed the victory, now let all creation sing;
Christ is enthroned in glory, He’s our present and future King.

Every knee shall bend before Him; He will by none be denied,
But only to those who trust Him, will eternal life be supplied.

So come now to the King; He will turn no one away;
Into His kingdom, you, He’ll bring; for the sin of the world He did pay.
