Lord Jesus, put Your yoke upon me,
For I long to be free,
Of the sin that seeks to drown me,
And nailed You to a tree.
I am desperate for redemption,
Your loving, merciful exemption;
To be free of sin’s attention,
And to never fear Hell’s detention.
Your burden is blessedly light,
And illuminates the dark night.
You devour all reason for fright,
And give Your followers, futures bright.
With each passing day I’m more alarmed,
That still by sin my heart is charmed.
But I’m grateful Your Spirit has disarmed,
Sin’s hold, and against it, me, has armed.
I was born a slave to the power of Hell,
Although I was made to, with You, dwell.
But You lovingly harkened to my yell.
And raised me up from where I fell.
By You, sin’s power has been defeated,
And from the throne of my heart has been unseated.
On the cross, salvation’s work, You completed,
Now, as Lord of my life, I have, You, greeted.
While I’m on this Earth sin still does prattle,
And tries to reclaim me as its chattel,
But in You I win every battle,
And will never return to be devil’s cattle.
Every time I stumble and fall,
You graciously hasten to my call.
Through my ear You’ve driven an awl;
Forever I’m Your willing servant and thrall.
Still though, I long for the day,
When sin’s presence is forever swept away,
I set foot in Your kingdom and say,
“All praise be to Your name, Yahweh.”
Lord Jesus please help me here below,
To continually in grace grow.
Thank You for washing me white as snow,
And for dying so that, You, I may know.
To You oh God be all honor and praise;
You’re the all-creating Ancient of Days.
You are perfect in all Your ways;
Forever upon You I’ll fix my gaze.
