There was a day when the sky turned pitch black,
As a Man shouted, “It’s finished!” and then fell slack.
He claimed to be God’s Son,
Come to die for everyone.
This means He said He was God in the flesh,
And so the authorities, His body, did thresh.
To support His Divine claim,
He taught with authority and healed the lame.
But as a reward for His healing spree,
They crucified Him on a tree.
Yet as He struggled through this sieve,
He cursed them not, but said, “Father, forgive!”.
When His last breath He took,
The curtain tore and the Earth shook.
The ground below His cross was red;
They thrust in a spear to ensure He was dead.
Then His body was placed in a tomb,
As His followers scattered, weeping in gloom.
But there was a day three days later,
When He proved Himself to be the Creator.
In power, He rose up from the grave,
Showing He was not, to death, a slave.
He revealed Himself to be the Master,
Come to save us from disaster.
His name is Jesus of Nazareth,
And He came to, His lost sheep, gathereth.
Though, for our sin, we deserve to die,
Christ Jesus the Lord came down to supply,
The means to save us from damnation,
By giving His own life for our salvation.
And in the future there’ll be a day,
When He’ll return with an army and say,
“Let all things be made new,
For, this is the end of all that’s untrue.”
I speak of the day when Heaven meets Earth;
When death and sorrow are replaced with mirth.
God welcomes all to His Kingdom that’s coming;
Trust Christ and, to death, you won’t be succumbing.
So make this the day when you saith,
“Christ Jesus, in You I place my faith.”
