I Have a Beautiful Inheritance

I have a beautiful inheritance,
Because Jesus bled for me.
It’s come solely by His benevolence,
For, He died to set me free.

Though I was a slave to sin and death,
Now I’ve become so much more.
My Lord has given me eternal breath,
And opened, to me, Heaven’s door.

God adopted me as His child,
And made me a fellow heir with Christ.
I wandered and strayed into the wild,
But His life, to pay for my sin, has sufficed.

I was born broken and destitute;
In me there was nothing to admire.
But Christ condescended to be a substitute,
On the cross and save me from Hell fire.

Jesus Christ is the God of salvation;
In Him I’ve been richly blessed.
He, the Lord of all creation,
Died so, with righteousness, I could be dressed.

God our Father, the King of Glory,
Gave His own Son to pay for our sin.
Unified in will, Jesus died a death gory,
To, His royal family, bring us in.

Yes, I said “us”, you heard rightly.
For, the inheritance of which I tell you,
Jesus holds onto not tightly,
But gives to all who confess He is true.

Trust Christ and, by God, be adopted;
Come and receive His divine family Name.
Shrink not back; let your life be co-opted,
By the One who died to bear our sin and shame.

Believe in Jesus and know love like no other.
For, greater love has no one than this:
To lay down their own life for another,
And meet our sin with forgiveness.

I have received an inheritance, most beautiful,
Because my Lord died and rose from the grave.
His glory is eternally indisputable,
And He alone is mighty to save.

To God be all honor and praise.
In Christ He makes all, son and heir.
Jesus, the Ancient of Days,
Lavishes on us His good loving care.
