I don’t want to be great, I just want to go home,
To enter Heavenly rest, and no longer, down here, roam.
Rather than win an earthly battle, and march in victory,
I want to gaze on the face of my Savior, and be done with all mystery.
For I long to see King Jesus; to look upon His beautiful face.
I want to enter His blessed rest, and be wrapped in His loving embrace.
Although, presently, I know Him, while on this Earth my sight is dim.
But one day I will see clearly, He who had nails put through each limb.
You see, I’ve an unquenchable thirst for glory, but I do not seek my own.
This thirst can only be slaked, by God in whom true glory is known.
We are all born as glory seekers, but often we look in the wrong location.
We’re made to bask in the light of the One, true God of all creation.
In Christ I have finally witnessed, and been given a blessed taste,
Majesty as never before’s been seen, and by no other could be replaced.
With each passing day I want more, and more to be free of the curse of sin.
I can’t contain my excitement for what’s in store when, to Heaven, I enter in.
I must be faithful on this Earth, but to go home is what I long for.
None of the baubles down here in the dirt, hold any attraction anymore.
I want to sit at the feet of my Lord, and listen to His beautiful voice,
As sweet words, like honey from the comb, are poured, while in my heart I sing and rejoice.
Christ Jesus help me to be patient, and to walk joyfully in Your will.
My Lord and my God I love you, please bring me home to Your holy hill.
