When the wind blows hard, and the rain falls heavy,
I give fervent regard to Christ Who holds the levy.
If it keeps on raining and the levy does break,
Then I’ll climb in a boat and float on the lake.
Should the waves rise up, and I fear I shall sink,
This truth I’ll recall, chew on and think:
All who trust Jesus, He does hold fast.
By no power of this world is He surpassed.
Through suffering and sorrow we’ve nothing to fear;
The risen Lord Jesus, to us, has drawn near.
What can death do, but give my soul rest?
For, by the Lord of life, Himself, I’m possessed.
Whatever slays the body, cannot harm my soul,
Because Christ, for my sin, died on a pole.
Though I was born, to sin and death, a slave,
Jesus paid my ransom when, His life, He gave.
He lived the perfect life none of us could,
And though He didn’t deserve it He was nailed to wood.
He bore the full wrath of God for our sin,
To raise us to life and bring His kingdom in.
Now all who’ve trusted in Him as their Savior,
Are washed clean and forgiven all sinful behavior.
For a short while we’ll still face trouble below,
But, in Christ, we are victors, and upward we’ll go.
Whatever may come and no matter the storm,
Recall to mind the gospel, and your own heart inform:
Christ Jesus my Savior has set me free,
And rose back to life after death on a tree.
Now although sometimes I am sorely pressed,
I’ll rejoice in my Savior by whom I’m richly blessed.
All praise to the Father, Holy Spirit and Son.
Salvation’s work is complete and the victory won.
