Hush now little lamb,
Jesus is making all things new.
As we foundered in sin, to us, He swam,
And out of the mire, us, He drew.
It’s true, with sorrow we’ve met,
And much pain we have encountered,
But the darkness by which we’re beset,
By Christ’s love has been countered.
Though we wandered into death’s cave,
The Good Shepherd has chased us down.
He did not forsake us to the grave,
For, He would not suffer us to drown.
We’re not alone in this world as we roam;
Our God is ever with us.
His cup of wrath for our sin that did foam,
Was drained by the Lord Jesus.
Though we sinned and now deserve Hell,
Our God still did not, us, abandon.
He said, “This shall not, their doom, spell,
But rather, I will send them My Son.”
In love, Jesus, God incarnate,
Came to die for our sin in our place.
A priceless gift, greater than gold or garnet;
He took our sin and gave us grace.
While, in this world, we face trouble,
Our greatest problem, the Lord, has resolved.
In victory He rose up from the rubble,
And in Him all our sin is absolved.
When anxiety’s ugly head does rear,
Recall to your mind and recount:
My infinite debt is now clear;
God paid in full and settled my account.
Christ Jesus, the Maker of Earth,
Has defeated all darkness and death.
No matter my struggle, I’ve reason for mirth,
‘Cause in Him I have eternal breath.
The pains of life in a fallen world,
Truly are brief and temporary.
Firmly God’s fingers, around me, are curled;
I won’t receive despair’s emissary.
Hush now little lamb; fix your gaze,
On Jesus, the Lover of your soul.
He’ll never forsake you through all of your days,
And though you weep, you, He’ll comfort and console.
