Sin Soon Sours

At first sin tastes sweet,
But after swallowing, it soon sours.
It fastens chains to our feet,
And enslaves us to cruel powers.

The sinful delights we consume,
In turn devour our soul.
Sin leads to a dire, dreadful tomb;
A pitch black, bottomless hole.

An eternal crescendo of horror,
Awaits all who, by it, are enticed.
We’re in desperate need of a Restorer,
Or forever, to death, we shall be spliced.

For, all have, into sin, strayed;
We’ve each eaten the forbidden fruit.
In so doing we’ve, God, betrayed,
And to Hell are now enroute.

Sin is a violation of His law,
And, in love, God rules with perfect justice.
But for our sin He faced death’s maw,
When He, Jesus, was born amongst us.

He Who commands angelic legions,
And is perfect, holy, and light,
Descended to the dust of mortal regions,
To rescue us from eternal night.

He came to show us eternal sweetness,
That which does not fade or sour;
Christ rushed to our aid in humble fleetness,
And died to, all our sin, devour.

After He fell in our place,
He rose back up to life.
Now those who accept His gift of grace,
Are cleansed of sin and saved from strife.

In Jesus we find true pleasure;
A sweet and lasting satisfaction.
Trade Him your sin for eternal treasure.
Can there be a better transaction?

An unending crescendo of joy,
New life and bodies that won’t decay,
Await those who forsake death’s employ.
So trust in Jesus; don’t delay.

Christ is exceedingly loving and gracious;
He desires to take you by the hand,
And lead you into green pastures spacious;
A beautiful, eternal, undying land.

Confess your sin now and repent;
Turn from all that does sour and rot.
Trust Christ Whose life for us was spent,
And unending life, to you, He’ll allot.
