The Two Lines

I once had a dream in which I saw two lines going in separate directions.
Those in the first were filled with joy, but the second was marked by downcast complexions.

The people in the first were clothed in white, and they shone bright as the sun;
Those in the second bore chains and were filled with fright, because of the sin they had done.

I discerned that I beheld eternity, and these lines went to different locations.
Those who trust Christ are ushered to Heaven, but all else pay for their violations.

Yet, both of these queues contained sinners therein, for, all mankind has sinned.
But all those who, belief in God, choose, are not in chains of darkness pinned.

God’s own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, suffered and died for the sin of all.
Now all who trust Him are raised to life and saved from an eternal fall.

By God’s grace I have so believed, and thus was among those clothed with joy,
But sadly I knew many who passed in chains, and were locked in death’s employ.

One with an ashen face looked at me; his eyes through my heart bore a hole.
“Why didn’t you tell me” he shouted, “that God died for my sin on a pole!

How can we know if the gospel’s not preached? Didn’t Christ give you this commission?
Now I will forever suffer in disgrace, because of your timid, unloving omission!”.

Cut to the quick I fell to my knees, though Heaven bound, I grieved and I wept.
Then a voice said, “Son, rise up and seize the opportunity for My command to be kept.

Death is the passage into eternity where there exists two lines and two doors.
Proclaim the gospel in the time you’ve been given; join in clearing out death’s stores.

In all things I have the initiative, but you must do as you are told.
Tell all of My coming kingdom; in the power of My Spirit, you must be bold.”

In the next instant I woke from my dream, and I want to share this lesson with you.
If we love the Lord, and those around us, esteem, we must tell them the gospel is true.

Eternity’s coming, and will soon be here; truly, death is not the end.
Tell one and all of Christ’s love without fear, for their eternal fates on this does depend.
