Heaven and Earth will suffer final decay,
Not a single blade of grass will remain.
This universe will forever be wiped away,
Along with every trace of sin’s stain.
All we have built will wither and rot;
Every tower will crumble to dust.
All who live now will soon be forgot;
‘Tis a joke to call any “robust.”
But though the mountains will melt and the stars shall fall,
God’s mercy endures forever.
And though we are dust, if we answer His call,
Death, us from life, will not sever.
For, the Word of the Lord is certain and sure;
A foundation the wise builds upon.
Those who trust Him will be secure,
And granted life forever anon.
While all have sinned and now deserve death,
Almighty God, the Lord Christ Jesus,
Died in our place; gave up His own breath,
To out of Hell fire, seize us.
He defeated death, rose up from the grave,
And He has thus spoken:
“They who repent and trust in Me, I will from sin save,
And no promise of Mine shall be broken.”
So, we may be dust and will soon die,
But in Christ we have true, certain hope.
Over the brevity of life we’ve no reason to cry,
‘Cause in the dark we no longer grope.
The Light of the world stepped into the dark,
And He was not overcome.
Now all who repent and to His voice hark,
The penalty for sin, are saved from.
Nothing in this world is destined to last,
Except what God’s revealed in His word.
With this truth in mind, to Christ now hold fast,
And by all earthly powers be undeterred.
From everlasting to everlasting our God reigns on high;
In power and glory Jesus is supreme.
To all who repent and trust in Him, eternal life, He’ll supply;
A glorious future beyond any we could dream.
