The Yoke Of Jesus

Everyone bears a yoke; we all must serve someone.
This simple fact of life, no one can outrun.

Some worship false gods, others worship the self,
But these are both one wide road that leads to death’s shelf.

There seems a plethora of choices, but in truth only two exist.
Serve the God of Heaven, or serve the devil and, God, resist.

Resist the God who loves you, and serve sin which leads to Hell.
Or accept God’s gift of grace in Christ, and with Him in Heaven dwell.

Although the yoke of Satan takes on varied forms,
Upon all who take it, the same deceit it performs.

Sin is pleasing for a moment, but every hook needs bait.
And it’s only a matter of time until you’ll be crushed under its weight.

But God has, on us, had mercy, and offered a way of escape.
Jesus says, “Take my yoke upon you, and your future I’ll reshape.”

For, the yoke of Jesus brings comfort and rest;
He is gentle, lowly, and knows what, for us, is best.

He is the God of comfort Who turns none away.
He died for our sin and rose on the third day.

Those who serve sin will forever in sorrow be drowned,
But in serving Jesus true freedom is found.

All who confess, repent and trust in Christ as Lord,
Will be forgiven their sin and, to life, be restored.

They’re saved not only from death, but unto glory;
The blessed moment of salvation is only the start of the story.

There will be a new Earth and Heaven in which we shall live.
There’ll also be redeemed bodies that, to us, our Lord shall give.

We shall live forever, dance, feast and sing praise,
Reveling always, to the glory of the Ancient of Days.

Take His yoke upon you; Christ the eternally blessed One,
And ten thousand years from now, your eternal life’ll hardly have begun.
