The Feast Comes After The Battle

The victory feast comes after the battle,
So let us not be surprised,
That, against our hull, the enemy’s darts rattle,
And with difficulty, the present is comprised.

The greater the struggle, the greater the glory,
So give a war cry as, into battle, you run.
Just as our Lord Who on the cross gory,
Yelled, “It’s finished!”, as He conquered and won.

In spiritual raiment dive into the fray,
Under the command of Jesus the King.
Declare He alone is the Life, Truth and Way;
The Creator and Master of everything.

Sing Christ’s praise and march to His cadence;
The gates of Hell will not, against Him, prevail.
We’ll be victorious by His divine aidance,
Though in our flesh we are weak and frail.

Down here we all will face trouble,
For, in this world there is evil at work,
But by Christ’s strength push on through the rubble;
Gaze on Him and despise evil’s smirk.

Whether you’re afflicted by pain and infirmity,
Or with persecution you’ve met,
Remember your royal, Heavenly paternity,
And that God the Father will not, you, forget.

His eye is upon you at all times,
And, omnipotent, He’s accomplishing His plan.
If ever it seems hopeless sometimes,
Recall that God, for us, became a man.

He submitted to death on a cross,
And when the situation looked most dire,
Defeating death and consuming our sin’s dross,
He rose back to life out the muck and the mire.

Christ humiliated this world’s dark prince,
And routed him and his ilk on the field.
From that day onward and ever since,
His kingdom advances as men’s hearts, to Him, yield.

So follow Him and take up your cross;
Bear it high as those in a shield wall.
Resistance faced now will only add gloss,
On the coming day of this world’s final fall.

King Jesus will descend in glory.
Wide open the heavens, He shall rend.
Then shall come the culmination of all history,
When in full, to Earth, His kingdom does extend.

Every tear will be wiped away;
The battle ended, the marriage feast shall begin.
With Christ forever, day after day,
Into joy and glory we’ll march farther up and further in.
