Our Warrior King

Storm the dark fortress’ gate,
For, the Most High has decreed,
“Those who languish under sin’s weight,
In My Son, shall now be freed.

My ear has not been deaf to the cry,
Of My rebel children chained to death.
For the sake of My glory, My Son did die,
That they might receive eternal breath.”

Now, all who repent and confess Jesus, Lord,
For all their sin shall be forgiven.
From His throne on high, mercy is poured,
And no one need from Him, by sin, be riven.

Raise a rampart and unfurl Christ’s banner;
Assault Hell’s walls with truth and love.
Following Jesus, adopt His meekly manner,
And tell others how He came from above.

Our Warrior King, into darkness, did descend,
And He, Jesus the Light, was not overcome.
Our gloomy shackles He did sunder and rend,
When with His blood He paid our ransom.

With truth and grace He beat down Hell’s door,
For Christ Jesus is awesome in power.
Now as through us, His love does pour,
He continues to assault sin’s towers.

The Lord Jesus is a warrior;
Yahweh God of hosts is His Name.
Let the redeemed follow Him, all the more eager,
To serve Him in His glorious campaign.

The fallen kingdom of this world,
Since Calvary has been in full rout.
Over their fleeing shoulders, darts are still hurled,
So, shields up, out the trench, and push out.

Advance I say; push towards the fire,
Following Christ Who is our true strength.
Through us He’ll snatch more off sin’s pyre,
That they too might know life of infinite length.

The darkness is in full retreat;
God’s kingdom will soon fully be here.
None, against the Almighty, can compete,
So, press on in faith without fear.

This hard fought battle will be over soon,
And we’ll enter our Lord’s blessed rest.
Then face to face with Him we shall commune,
And thank Him for the small part we played in this quest.
