Christ has made death toothless, and has, its bitterness, turned sweet.
For, He’s made it the means by which, we’ll face to face, with Him, meet.
Jesus bore our sin and in so doing, the grave, He has defanged.
In order to raise us to life with Him, His life for ours was exchanged.
The penalty for sin is death, and none of us could carry the weight of our guilt,
But God became bereft of breath, so a bridge back to Him could be built.
Now what is death for the Christian, except the door to our eternal home?
It merely spells the end of our journey, and the beginning of perfect shalom.
Although it is bitterly sad, Christ’s followers do not grieve without hope.
In the darkest valley we can be glad, for, without a light we do not grope.
The Lord of all creation; the Son around Whom all revolves,
Was not overcome by the darkness, and all our iniquity He absolves.
On the cross He bore all our sorrows, and by His stripes we are healed.
Now, death has no claim on us, for, in Jesus, our Ark, we are sealed.
We no longer need fear the serpent; Christ Jesus has crushed its head.
Futilely it might gum at our heel, but unharmed, on the adder, we tread.
By His grace, through faith, now receive Him, and you will not be turned away.
Satan and death could not hold Him; He rose again on the third day.
Following in the steps of Jesus, we too shall walk out of the tomb.
We’re His so, the grave can’t defeat us; like the seed that dies, fruitful, we’ll bloom.
Christ shall raise us up in glory, and seat us in a heavenly place.
Forever we’ll rejoice in His victory, and praise Him for His mercy and grace.
Hallelujah to our risen King; He’s devoured sin, death and Hell.
As a result of His conquering, forever in splendor, with Him, we shall dwell.
