An Unstoppable Flood

The just and holy wrath of God is an untamable tempest.
But His love is an unstoppable flood, which has, all His anger, quenchest.

Uncontrolled, He does not rant and rave; He is rightly angered over sin.
Yet, in love, to satisfy His own wrath He gave His life to bring us in.

Oh how precious is the flow of His blood shed on the cross.
By this torrent we’re washed white as snow, and cleansed of sin’s dross.

It was not for a whim or trifle that Jesus’ divine blood was spilled.
For us there was a cup, truly, that to the brim with righteous wrath was filled.

How could a loving God not be angry, over sin and the suffering resultant?
Yet still, in His perfect justice, to punish us He is not exultant.

While perfect love means anger for sin, it also means overflowing mercy.
Our Lord wants us to live with Him, and to quench our souls that are thirsty.

We were made to give Him glory; this means to walk with Him and live righteously.
But our forbears did not trust Him, and sadly, neither have we.

We have spit in the eye of the Most High, and against His sovereignty rebelled.
But get this, though we deserve to die, in our place God suffered and yelled.

Jesus Christ, the Lord God incarnate, was killed for our sin, nailed to a tree.
He drained the cup of wrath down to the dregs, to pay our ransom that we might go free.

The King of kings Who is justly angry, quenched the white hot coals of His wrath.
His blood flowed; an unstoppable torrent that back to Him, for us, forged a path.

All who repent and trust Jesus as Lord and God, will be saved from the fall.
Believe He died and rose to redeem us, and out of the grave, you, He will haul.

For, King Jesus has plundered Hell; He’s the Victor and has, death, ransacked.
Be rescued and raised up to life; trust in Him and His selfless act.
