Now prepare the King’s highway,
Make straight the path His feet shall tread.
Believe in Him Who rose on the third day,
And His return you need not dread.
Smoothen the heart that’s rough and crooked,
With the leveler of repentance.
King Jesus will soon come to rid,
This world of sin in divine vengeance.
The valleys shall be lifted up,
And the mountains laid down low.
All who trust Jesus, in Heaven, will sup,
And no longer know death or sorrow.
They who’ve prepared the highway of the heart,
For Christ our King’s advance,
Will take part in the universe’s restart,
And in the Lord’s glorious kingdom expanse.
There is naught for us to do,
Except turn from sin to Jesus Christ.
Believe He died and rose for you,
And that His payment for our sin sufficed.
For, Jesus Christ, He is our God;
Our past, present and future King.
In selfless love He faced the rod,
To out the grave and in Heaven, us, bring.
God in the flesh faced the punishment,
Justice demands we, for our sin, should face.
To all of Heaven’s astonishment,
God’s Son was crucified in our place.
Jesus was nailed to a tree;
Mocked, shamed and brutally beaten.
But from that cross He proclaimed, in victory,
“It’s finished!”, defeating death; that cretin.
Then as proof of His sufficient payment,
Three days later He walked out of the tomb.
Now He’s up above in resplendent raiment,
For once again He did, His throne, assume.
In His first descent He came to save,
And one day soon He will return.
All who trust Him are no longer, to death, a slave,
But they who reject Him will, for their sin, burn.
Make straight your heart’s passageway;
Though He knocks now, soon He will enter.
He’ll assess what’s inside in the clear light of day,
For, He’s the Master; we’re just a renter.
Praise God, He’s gracious and loving;
Blessed be His glorious Name.
Mercifully, He’s made for us a covering,
To save us from holy wrath and flame.
