There’s no easy days; 24/7 the pain doesn’t cease.
It’s probable, only in death, that I will attain release.
Morning, noon and night, my head incessantly pounds.
But I’m nothing special, with cries of grief this world resounds.
Hear the wail of a bereaved mother, whose child was taken too soon.
Or perhaps the sob of the widower, left alone in sorrowful gloom.
There’s also no shortage of sickbeds, filled with the ill and infirm.
Should I go on? I think you get it; there’s myriad reasons why many squirm,
And writhe in pain and sorrow; suffering comes to all.
None born below escape the curse of mankind’s sinful fall.
From what do you suffer? Don’t compare yourself to me.
Everyone carries a burden, from which they long to be free.
While all down here languish, they who do so in reliance on Christ,
Have hope for a better tomorrow, for, He paid our ransom price.
Earth contains varied afflictions; such as, illness, storm or persecution,
But whatever the case might be, Jesus is the one solution.
This world that’s full of pain, the Lord Jesus descended to,
To bear all our sin and shame, in order to give us life anew.
Now, as we dwell below, we have this blessed hope:
Christ Jesus has overcome, and we no longer, in the dark, grope.
Though we must also know, the servant is not above the Master.
So, as we follow Him, we will endure some measure of disaster.
All have a cross to bear, and it’s a heavy thing.
But Christ bids us come and die; sharing with Him in His suffering.
Take heart though; He who conquered death, and defeated the grave,
Is leading us home to Heaven; He indeed is mighty to save.
He’s overthrown this world’s dark kingdom, and one day will return.
Jesus will resurrect all who trust Him, and banish evil to burn.
Repent of sin and believe in Christ; He tenderly wipes away every tear.
For His followers all sorrow will end, and with each sunset, that day’s more near.
