We all want someone we can depend on.
Through our life we search both near and yon,
For a solid rock to rest upon.
Whether we dwell in desert, jungle or highland,
No man is an island;
Loving support out-values any diamond.
People provide this in some measure,
And while community’s a pleasure,
Still we seek a greater treasure.
Most would be agreeing,
We are each a relational being,
And this fact helps us in seeing,
Our relational God made us to know Him,
And He did not do so on a whim,
But to wrap around us a loving limb.
Our creator God, He is triune.
He lacked not, but made us to commune,
With Him so, on myriad people love might be strewn.
For, He is a fount of grace and goodness,
Overflowing with tender kindness,
And He made us to know His love in fullness.
But our sin has us, from Him, severed,
And now to sin and death we’re fettered.
So to save us, Earth, He entered.
Jesus Christ became a man;
God incarnate, as was His plan,
To restore us to Him, from before time began.
In our place He laid down His life,
To pay for our sin and end our strife,
So we could know Him Who, with love, is rife.
Our God is the One we were made to crave,
And for us He went into the grave,
That we might no longer be, to death, a slave.
It is in Him alone our souls find rest.
Those who trust Christ will be blessed,
Forgiven their sin and by Him possessed.
The curse of sin, Christ has upended;
Our every hurt, in Him, is mended.
What a joy it is to be, by God, befriended.
Believe in Jesus and, in Him, abide;
He will never leave your side,
For, His love is an ocean deep and wide.
Hallelujah to Christ our King.
Because of His selfless suffering,
Forever we’ll live with Him, laugh and sing.
