The Sun of Righteousness

The Sun of Righteousness has come;
From Him proclamations of liberty are poured.
He is bringing in God’s kingdom,
And on Him is the Spirit of the Lord.

He is anointed to share good news;
Sin’s captives can be set free.
All who, repentance and faith in Him, choose,
Will be set at liberty.

In Him, the blind shall recover their sight,
And the lame will get up and walk.
Every wrong will be made right;
This is no idle talk.

For I speak of the Son of God,
Who’s come to proclaim the year of God’s favor.
To pay for our sin He went under the rod;
Truly, there is no one braver.

Jesus the Christ, He is mighty,
But also gentle, lowly and meek.
Though we dwell in dark gloomy night, He,
Left Heaven’s splendor to, our lost souls, seek.

The Most High descended most low;
Even to suffering and death on a cross.
The Fount of all joy knows of dread sorrow,
For He was clothed with our sinful dross.

He endured God’s righteous wrath fire;
God’s own spotless Lamb.
And He rose in victory from the dark mire,
For, Christ is the great I Am.

He consumed all our sin and grief,
Walked out the tomb and trampled death down.
He routed Satan, that liar and thief,
And now is enthroned wearing His rightful crown.

The Sun of Righteousness has risen;
The Light was not, by dark, overcome.
All who trust Him are freed from death’s prison,
And will not to the grave succumb.

Though all languish under heavy oppression,
The just penalty due for our sin,
If, “Jesus is Lord,” be our confession,
Our iniquity will be forgiven.

We shall go out leaping like the deer,
Unharrassed in a green woodland glade.
The year of the Lord’s favor is here,
And He gives life and joy that won’t fade.

Repent of sin and in Jesus believe;
To forgive and save us, He does delight.
His salvation is free; accept and receive.
The eternal future for those who trust Him is bright.
