A Light When All Others Go Out

A light when all others go out,
Christ Jesus will surely be to you.
Raise up a joyful shout;
The Light has broken through.

At His word the demons flee;
All forces of evil, He’s overcome.
He conquered death by His death on a tree;
In three days, the grave, He rose from.

The veil separating us from His radiance,
From top to bottom He has rent.
Now we who dwell in darkness have the chance,
To be raised because of His descent.

Though crucified, God’s Son has risen;
This dark world’s night has given way to dawn.
Hear this, all you trapped in death’s prison,
Can now be set free, for, Christ has won.

Jesus bore the full weight of our sorrow,
And shouldered all our sin and shame.
The tomb He was laid in He only did borrow,
For, to Him there could be assigned no blame.

The Lamb of God takes the world’s sin away;
The Light, all darkness, has devoured.
Repent of sin, trust in Him today,
And against the dark you’ll be empowered.

All who trust in Jesus as Lord,
Are forgiven and washed white as snow.
They are clothed with righteousness, loved, adored,
And filled with God’s Spirit though they dwell below.

The Redeemed are adopted into God’s family,
And in our heavenly home allotted a place.
For a short time on earth we’ll face calamity,
But always be sustained by God’s grace.

No matter how dark things might seem,
If every other light around us should go out,
An inextinguishable fire in us, God’s Spirit, will gleam,
To silence all our fear and doubt.

The Good Shepherd Who laid down His life,
Will never us, His dear sheep, abandon.
He’ll protect and lead us through all strife,
To our home in Heaven; He’s a faithful companion.

Not even the darkness of death,
Can us, from Christ, rob or steal.
Believe in Him now and receive eternal breath;
Please harken to this true, loving appeal.
