Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
The Name above every name,
Endured suffering of which none’s extremer,
To pay for our sin and save us from flame.
Our wonderful, merciful, Savior,
Mighty Defender, Lord God and Friend,
Poured out on us underserved favor,
When, on the cross, both limbs He did extend.
His arms were spread open wide,
Nailed to the beam in order to, us, receive.
He covered our sin so we might with Him abide,
If we only repent and believe.
For there’s nothing that we could do,
To wash away our sin’s crimson stain.
We’ve rebelled against God Who’s holy and true,
And deserve to be forever thrown from His domain;
Cast out into gloomy dark mire,
Separated from joy and life’s Source.
Justice demands we be banished to hell fire,
And suffer an eternal divorce.
But our Bridegroom’s rich in mercy and love,
And did not leave us to face righteous justice.
Selflessly He came down from above,
To live, suffer and die amongst us.
Christ laid down His life in our place,
To ransom for Himself a bride.
He didn’t consider it loss to suffer disgrace,
When for our transgressions He died.
Our Redeemer looked ahead to the joy,
He would have in raising us to life.
He delights to rescue sinners from death’s employ,
And deliver them from fear and strife.
All glory be to Jesus our God;
Our Redeemer Who died and has risen.
The spotless Lamb, with our sin, was shod,
To free us who’re trapped in death’s prison.
Repent of sin now and believe,
In Jesus Christ, our loving Savior and Lord.
All who come to Him, He’ll gladly receive,
And to them life will be restored.
All who trust Him will live forever,
And never again know sorrow or pain.
Because of Christ’s redemptive endeavor,
His followers will, with Him, eternally reign.
