When pressure and pain of this life hem you in,
Remember, we’re one day closer to home.
When life gives you yet one more blow to the chin,
Think, “One less day until perfect shalom.”
But I also must warn you lest you misconstrue,
The meaning of the words that I speak.
This hope I present is only known through,
Faith in Jesus Who’s gentle and meek.
If you trust Christ, your sin is forgiven,
For, He is our God Who died in our place.
Though for our sin, from Him we’ve been driven,
In love He’s shown mercy and grace.
This whole world is under a curse,
Because we have broken God’s law.
The punishment due our sin, none of us could reverse,
But in our place God dove into death’s maw.
He, the just Judge of all creation,
On a cross, for us, suffered and died.
The debt for our sin required infinite compensation,
And God paid it as blood flowed from His side.
Now hear this, if you trust Christ as Lord,
Repent of sin and give your life to Him,
Eternal life upon you is poured,
And He’ll wrap ‘round you a loving limb.
And though we’ll face trouble as we dwell below,
Our journey on Earth has a fixed end date.
As we traverse through valleys dark and low,
We can rejoice to know the future will be great.
All born of men will suffer some way;
None in this fallen world get out alive.
But for those who trust Christ, death means not decay,
For they shall rise and eternally thrive.
All who trust Jesus are children of God,
And our forever home is in Heaven.
With each passing day, closer to home we trod,
With He Who created all in days seven.
Hallelujah to Jesus our King,
Who one day we’ll see face to face.
Let us praise His Name as we walk and sing,
Home where He’s prepared for us a place.
