Realms Material and Spiritual

“The Holy Spirit is not the only spirit,”
Is something I once heard a wise man say.
In these words the message is inherent:
We should not, with certain things, dabble and play.

Throughout mankind’s history,
By varied ways and means,
Humans have sought knowledge of mystery,
Using substances and ritualized routines.

These routines wear the mask of witchcraft,
Or sometimes that of science.
No matter how you slice it, it is quite daft,
And amounts to rebellious defiance.

To desire knowledge is not bad,
But to reach for what God’s not given led to the fall.
Just as Adam and Eve took what God forbad,
Today, many still answer sin’s clarion call.

The sin of which I speak now,
Is that of communion with realms unseen.
Though, for something to be in reach, God might allow,
This does not make it, for us, approved cuisine.

Our uncreated God created both,
The realms material and spiritual.
And He commanded we must not seek to goeth,
And commune with beings immaterial.

Remain in your appointed place;
Commit not the sin of the Watchers.
They rebelled and tainted the human race;
Forsaking humble obedience to become rebellious botchers.

Why should we try to hear from,
Some fallen spiritual being?
It is in Christ alone we can become,
Redeemed to life; this, His blood is guaranteeing.

Repent of sin and trust in Christ,
And the Spirit of almighty God will dwell with you.
Do not, with curiosity for the dark, be enticed,
But seek only Him Whose love is true.

If ever you should face,
An unsought spiritual attack,
Cry out to Jesus Who gives grace,
And from you evil must fall back.

But do not seek such encounters out;
Endeavor to be faithful in the realm you’re placed.
The Lord Jesus is our one true Redoubt,
And with eternal life He has, us, graced.

Desire not the forbidden fruit;
In His good time God will reveal.
Make knowing Christ your sole pursuit,
And your spiritual practice to, before Him, kneel.
