A Woman Guilty of Much Sin

There is a story in the gospel,
Of a woman guilty of much sin.
She came before Jesus feet and fell,
Using her tears to wash and hair to dry His skin.

She did so because she loved Him greatly,
For Jesus had forgiven her much.
She didn’t put on pompous airs or act stately,
But expressed loving worship with this humble touch.

This lady was right to do so,
And Jesus tenderly accepted her gift.
Our Lord receives all those who go low,
And in love them does uplift.

If you’ve done much that needs forgiven,
All the more grace and love await you.
The Son of God’s flesh for our sin was riven;
In Him we can be cleansed and made new.

Do not shrink back from Christ,
Saying, “I’ve committed too much sin.”
For the sin of the world His blood sufficed,
To cleanse us out and in.

It is true our debt’s unpayable;
At least it is for you and me.
But God Himself alone is capable,
Of paying our ransom and setting us free.

And indeed this He has done;
Jesus Christ our Lord died in our place.
In selfless love, to us, He did run,
To pour out on us mercy and grace.

In our Lord’s selfless sacrifice,
We see the purest example of love.
He died and rose up in days thrice,
To haul us out the grave and raise us above.

Follow this dear sister’s example;
Repent of sin and kiss the Lord’s feet.
The broken and contrite heart He does not trample,
For He is tender, loving and sweet.

Lay down your sin so love and grace,
Can be poured into your heart.
The more forgiveness needed, the greater the space,
In you for Jesus to, His love, impart.

Our God and Savior, He is good,
And He desires to save you.
Trust in Him Who, for us, was nailed to wood,
And rejoice in His love that’s true.
