Compared to the glory of God,
Glory from man is but fetid exhalation.
It is He, Who with our sin was shod,
That trampled the serpent and purchased our salvation.
Seek the praise of the Lord in Heaven above,
Instead of man who crawls in the dirt below.
It is He our hearts were made to love,
And in Him we’ll flourish and grow.
We should not, of our fellows, think lowly,
But we must give the Most High His due.
Christ our Lord is mighty, exalted and holy,
And by His own death, death, He slew.
God’s glory is unsurpassed and eternal,
But man’s is mist before the sun.
None of the Lord’s Word will return null,
But of eternal value, man’s speech has none.
Our Lord God and Christ will return,
And take His rightful place in the judgment seat.
It is His opinion we should, ourselves with, concern,
For His sovereignty is total and complete.
Reverent fear is where wisdom begins,
But know this of our Lord as well,
In selfless love He died for our sins,
So we might forever in His kingdom dwell.
In His love He is perfectly just,
And therefore one day will, sin, judge.
But in loving kindness He is also robust,
And came to Earth to live in the sludge.
He desires that we should have life,
And so His blood poured to pay our sin’s debt.
He bore all our guilt and strife,
So that our iniquity He might forget.
Jesus rose from the grave on the third day,
And all who believe in Him, He will save.
Christ alone is the Life, Truth and Way,
For all mankind to be forgave.
Live for the glory of and from God;
It is He Who loves and will save our soul.
Through the darkest valley He trod,
When He suffered for our sin on a pole.
Those who trust Jesus and believe,
Will one day hear, “Well done, faithful servant.”
No greater praise could we ever receive;
Live for Him with a heart humble and fervent.
