At Times I Grow Weary

At times I grow weary,
Of earth’s trials and travails.
I long to leave it all behind,
And the brokenness entailed.

I’m tired of man’s cruelty;
Corruption and selfish gain.
I wish to see eternal beauty;
A land that doesn’t death contain.

Please don’t misunderstand me;
I’ve caused my share of grief.
The list of my transgressions,
Is anything but brief.

But Jesus paid my ransom,
With His own precious blood.
His mercy flowed down to me,
In an overwhelming flood.

He raised me from the ashes;
Put in me a brand new heart.
He’s given new life to me,
And He never will depart.

Now that I’ve seen His goodness,
And His infinite worth.
My heart groans all the more,
For this fallen earth’s rebirth.

I long to see my Maker;
To kneel before His throne.
I’m tired of this sojourn.
For heaven is my home.

We who long for heaven,
Are right to do so.
But love should motivate us,
To fulfill our task below.

Our inheritance is certain,
It will not fade or rust.
We needn’t fear death’s curtain,
For in Jesus we trust.

Selflessly He came,
From heaven down to earth.
He bore our debt for sin,
To give us endless mirth.

He left behind the splendor,
To fall into the grave.
He came in love so tender,
To free all of death’s slaves.

Now that Christ has risen,
Let all the earth rejoice.
We have been forgiven,
Let’s proclaim Him with our voice.

So as we long for heaven,
Let us be faithful to,
Use our time here wisely,
To proclaim the gospels true.

One day soon we’ll see Him;
He’s also with us now.
Let us endure by His Spirit,
And keep our hand upon the plow.

  1. I have felt this one deeply. Our Heavenly Home is but a glorious dream away.

    1. Take heart sister! Trust in Jesus, and be encouraged that He is coming soon!

      “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For,

      “Yet a little while,
      and the coming one will come and will not delay;
      but my righteous one shall live by faith,
      and if he shrinks back,
      my soul has no pleasure in him.”

      But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.”
