“Give us a sign,” they sneered,
“Dance a jig to our scornful song.”
The King of glory had, to them, appeared,
But these blind guides, to Him, did not belong.
Signs aplenty Jesus already showed them;
Many were healed and from demons set free.
One lady, simply by touching His cloak’s hem,
Healed from twelve years of sickness was she.
Besides this, Christ raised some from the dead,
And preached the truth with authority and grace.
But when faced with the Heavenly Bread,
The leaders rejected and spit in His face.
Jesus fulfilled hundreds of prophecies;
Who but God could do such a thing?
Yet, men give preference to absurd hypotheses,
Rather than take shelter under His wing.
In myriad forms this pattern’s persisted,
Even though Christ rose up from the grave.
Presented with the truth, mankind has resisted,
God our Savior Who’s mighty to save.
Back then they said, “He’s the devil!”,
But how can Satan cast out his own?
Today so that, in sin, they might revel,
Many say, “Quite simply, the truth can’t be known.”
The one thing in which humanity is consistent,
Is to deny what is plain to see:
That God has not remained, from us, distant,
But died to pay for our sin on a tree.
Truly, God has revealed Himself to us,
And provided eyewitness accounts.
The incarnate God is named Jesus,
And His life each gospel recounts.
Though we have, against Him, all sinned,
And deserve eternal condemnation,
In love He looked on us and grinned,
As He humbly descended to our location.
He lived the perfect life we never could,
And to pay for our sin He did die.
Brutally beaten, He was nailed to wood,
That mercy and grace to us He might supply.
Three days later Christ rose back to life,
For, death could not hold Him down.
So, repent and be rescued from strife,
There’s no reason why you should, in sin, drown.
By grace through faith, life, He offers;
To Him be all honor and praise.
Freely to us, this gift, He proffers,
And He’s perfect in all of His ways.
